📍 Location
The Sayan Mountains occupy a broad swath of southern Siberia, extending across several Russian administrative regions and reaching southward into northern Mongolia.
The range sits in an important geographic transition zone. To the west lie the Altai Mountains, while to the east are the mountains and basins surrounding Lake Baikal. South of the range lie the uplands and steppes of Mongolia.
