The Pacific Coast Ranges are a vast collection of mountain ranges extending along the western side of North America, from Alaska and western Canada south through the western United States and into Mexico.
Rather than forming one continuous ridge, the Pacific Coast Ranges consist of numerous individual mountain systems separated by valleys, lowlands, fjords, river corridors, and coastal plains. Together they form the westernmost mountainous belt of the much larger North American Cordillera.

📍 Location
The Pacific Coast Ranges follow the western margin of North America for thousands of miles.
In the north, immense coastal mountains rise around the Gulf of Alaska, southeastern Alaska, southwestern Yukon, and British Columbia. Here the mountain landscape is dominated by towering ice-covered peaks, enormous glaciers, fjords, and deeply carved valleys.
The Saint Elias Mountains contain the highest terrain in the Pacific Coast Ranges. Their summits include Mount Logan, Mount Saint Elias, Mount Lucania, Mount Steele, Mount Vancouver, Mount Hubbard, and Mount Fairweather.

Saint Elias Mountains

🪨 Geology
